Hey Besties!

Welcome to my blog! I’m Malaishia(Ma-lay-sha) or you can call me Malay. I’m so glad you’re here. So, here’s a little bit about me. I never really knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Over the years, I’ve realized that I have many interests and I didn’t want to limit myself. So I thought hmm, maybe entrepreneurship doesn’t sound so bad…..besides working 24/7 but I knew I was up for it! One of my many interests is becoming a successful filmmaker and maybe even dabbling into acting…we’ll see lol. Outside of working towards my goals, I live a pretty simple life that consists of online shopping, reading, trying new restaurants, exploring new places, and finding new side hustles.

Why did I start this blog?

I’ve been entertaining the idea of starting a blog since 2020. I kept procrastinating and making excuses until finally, 4 years later, I said enough excuses. Let’s just do it! I never thought of a blog as a potential career. I always thought of it as a hobby but once I realized how influential blogs can be for others and how much I enjoy connecting with other people, I knew that blogging was a good choice for me. I conducted some research and came up with some topics to share and I got right down to business.

I’m constantly learning new things as I progress in my blogging journey and I’ve been enjoying every step of the way. I started this blog because I love to write and I love sharing my new beauty finds and ideas with other people. Consider me a big sister or virtual bff that you can rely on for all the latest life hacks, beauty tips, trends, travel and so much more.

My life over the last few years

2020

Starting a new chapter

I finished my last semester of college when covid happened and changed everything. I packed up my things from college and returned home. I started doing freelance photography as a hobby so I wouldn’t go crazy being quarantined in the house. I purchased my first camera (a Canon 90D) and started taking pictures. Like many other people, I was anxious about the shut down and how it affected everyone. Even though it was a very trying time, I got very inspired by all of the people who were starting businesses and finding side hustles during the pandemic. It made me start thinking of different business ventures that I could try out. That’s when the blog came to mind.

2021

Pursuing my career

I went to school for Broadcast and Cinematic Arts so I was so excited when I finally landed a job in my field as a video production assistant. It was only temporary but I learned so much. While working as a video production assistant on a project basis, I also started working for the Marriott full time. I enjoyed working in the hospitality industry and the discounts were awesome! I also managed to get an internship as a video editor for a women’s travel blog. How cools is that? The excitement didn’t stop there! I got the opportunity to shoot my first music video for an aspiring musician and discovered the power of networking.

2022

Started selling my first digital product

My contract ended for my video production job so it was back to job hunting while I continued working for the Marriott. When I started doing freelance photography in 2020, I also learned more about Lightroom and Photoshop from editing pictures. It was time to turn my skills into income so I opened my Etsy shop selling Lightroom presets and I explored the world of e-commerce.

2023-2024

Continuing my journey

This was a year of lessons and many let downs unfortunately. I finally got serious about my blog and I started selling another digital product. I put more of an emphasis on building an engaging community and marketing my business. I’m still starting out but I’m very proud of the progress and the amount of support that I’ve gained so far. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
